Cádiz Mayor Bruno García, accompanied by Deputy Mayor for Festivals Beatriz Gandullo, has announced that singer-songwriter Antonio Orozco will be the guest speaker at the 2027 Cádiz Carnival.

The mayor, who welcomed Orozco to City Hall this morning, said that although the appointment was officially announced today, the agreement had been reached some time ago.

“Although we are making the appointment official today, the commitment was made quite some time ago. Antonio helped us enormously with our Enamorados de Cádiz campaign, which we presented at Fitur last year. Since then, we’ve had several conversations, and he has always made it clear how excited he was about the possibility of taking part in the Carnival,” García said.

He explained that the invitation was made last summer, during a concert by Antoñito Molina at the stadium.

“We offered him the role last summer, at Antoñito Molina’s concert at the stadium, and that’s when he gave us his word. From that moment on, he was clear that Cádiz was his priority. So I’d like to thank him not only for accepting the invitation, but also for keeping his commitment.”

Orozco, for his part, said he was “very excited and also very nervous” about the event, which will take place on February 6 next year in San Antonio Square.

“The Carnival is a great opportunity for anyone who has the chance to be the guest speaker, because you can learn and gain access to places that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach. I’m talking about the heart of the chirigotas and the people who perform them. It’s a privileged place that very few people get to experience. That’s why I feel incredibly fortunate,” he said.

The singer also highlighted his longstanding connection with Cádiz throughout his artistic career. He recalled that he had recently announced that he would not be performing any concerts in Spain during 2027 or part of 2028.

“So I’m very happy to announce that the only time I’ll be on stage in 2027 will be in San Antonio Square. We’re going to do it with a lot of love for many reasons, but also because it will be the only time.”
