David Afonso

David Afonso Hernández, originally from La Orotava, Tenerife, is 31 years old and has had music as an inseparable companion throughout his life. Although his daily work involves cables and tools as an electrician, he has always found time for his great passion: singing and performing on stage.

His love for music began as a child when he started being part of Canarian folklore groups, learning from the traditions and sounds of his land. In 2004, at just 12 years old, he entered the children’s competition Veo Veo, organised by Teresa Rabal, where he secured third place overall and second place in the vocal category. That experience left a mark on him and gave him the necessary push to continue chasing his dream.

Over the years, David has worked hard to carve his way. In 2012, he made his debut with the orchestra The Boys Machine, recording his first music video and gaining experience on stage. Between 2014 and 2016, he had an exciting time travelling with the group around Galicia, where he brought Latin music rhythms and a piece of the Canary Islands to the north of Spain. Later, he joined the group Nueva Fuerza and the orchestra El Combo Dominicano, participating in carnivals and tours across various regions of the country.

Since 2019, David has been part of La Sabrosa, one of the most iconic orchestras in the Canary Islands. There, as a vocalist, he has had the opportunity to continue growing and to participate in notable events such as the galas of the Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2022 and 2023, a dream come true for someone so deeply connected to the island’s traditions.

His voice has also reached television, participating in programmes such as Luar and Aquí Galicia on Galician TV, and in beloved Canarian shows such as Noche de Taifas, where he has been seen on several occasions in recent years.

In 2025, David takes an important step in his career by confirming his participation in Benidorm Fest, approaching this challenge with excitement, humility, and the hope that his music will connect with the audience and take a piece of the Canary Islands to the Eurovision stage.
